5Essentials Parent Survey

On behalf of the Illinois State Board of Education, the Illinois 5Essentials Survey will be administered online by UChicago Impact at the University of Chicago. The survey gathers data related to five indicators that can predict important student outcomes, including improved attendance and larger test score gains.

These five indicators that affect and predict school success are:

  • Effective Leaders
  • Collaborative Teachers
  • Involved Families
  • Supportive Environments
  • Ambitious Instruction

Prior research in more than 400 schools has shown that schools that were strong on at least three of these “5Essential” indicators were 10 times more likely to improve student learning gains in math and reading than those that were weak on three or more Essentials.

We value your opinions about the operations of the high school and are looking for your input. This is your chance to provide input concerning your children’s education. MHS benefits from a strong response rate from parents in order for us to access to the data from the survey. The survey is available to MHS parents now and the deadline to complete the survey is March 22 but we encourage you to complete it as soon as you can.

This weekend the Mustangs overcame adversity as a team and competition. Varsity competed at Buffalo Grove High School on Sunday. 43 Teams were forced to drop because of the current covid situation, but the Mustangs persevered through their performance! We are looking forward to getting on the mat again. Both of our teams will compete at Grayslake North on Saturday January 15! Come out to support Mundelein Cheer! JV will perform at 8:27AM and Varsity will perform at 4:20PM! Keep up the hard work Mustangs!

The Mustangs returned from an eventful trip to Collinsville, Illinois over winter break. Varsity went 1-3 vs some very tough competition in southern Illinois. Even though we had a different outcome this season than in the 19-20 season the boys still enjoyed the camaraderie as a team on the trip. These are the memories that the players will remember long after the final buzzer sounds. Before the break Varsity sat at 2-1 in conference, but we have opened up the new year with three straight conference losses. The Mustangs have had to overcome different injuries during this stretch and allow other players to show what they have to offer. Lower levels are improving week to week which is what we have hoped for. Being competitive, learning and enhancing their skills, and having fun while doing so is what we want our lower levels to experience.

We want to thank everyone who donated to our fundraiser. We really appreciate the support that we have been given.
