MHS representation in Regional Figure Skating Championship
Congratulations and best wishes to Anissa Maravella who is registered to compete in the Junior Ladies Free Skate event at the 2018 Upper Great Lakes Regional Figure Skating Championships, October 4‐8, 2017, in Blaine, MN.
The regional championships are the first event in U.S. Figure Skating’s qualifying pipeline. The junior level is the fourth of five competitive levels within the U.S. Figure Skating qualifying system. Junior is the first level where the most successful athletes have the opportunity to earn a spot on Team USA. The average junior level competitor has spent just over 10 years in the sport and trains about 13 hours weekly.
If Anissa finishes in the top four at these championships, she will earn the opportunity to compete at the 2018 Midwestern Sectional Figure Skating Championships, November 14‐18, 2017, in Bloomington, MN. A top‐four finish at sectionals would then secure her a spot at the 2018 U.S. Figure Skating Championships, December 29, 2017‐January 7, 2018, in San Jose,California.
You can follow Anissa’s progress and see her placement at the 2018 Upper Great Lakes Regional Figure Skating Championships on icenetwork.com.
