Families,

School District 120 is participating with the Illinois State Board of Education in the 2023 statewide survey of school climate and learning conditions. This is your chance to provide input concerning your child’s education. We value your opinions about the operations of Mundelein High School.

The Illinois 5Essentials Survey provides a unique opportunity for students, teachers and parents to have a voice in improving their schools. The surveys are available now through Friday, March 31. Please use the following link to complete the survey: 5 Essential Survey.

We will take all of your input seriously and use it to continually review and update our current educational practices. Results will never be connected to your child. No individual will be identified in the school reports and teachers and administrators will not see individual responses.

The survey is administered online by UChicago Impact at the University of Chicago and provides a comprehensive picture of a school’s organizational culture in an individualized report measuring the five essentials critical for school  success:

  • Effective Leaders

  • Collaborative teachers

  • Involved families

  • Supportive education

  • Ambitious instruction

The survey results will be sent to District 120 and will be included in the Illinois State School Report Card next fall.

Thanks, in advance, for taking part in this important survey.

In partnership,

Alexandria Rios Taylor

Girls Bowling Coaches Corner

Sectionals were held at Classic Bowl in Morton Grove.  Brianna Merner bowled an 1107, taking 9th place as an individual and 16 place overall.  Samantha Sciortino bowled a 1079 earning 35th place overall.  Both athletes bowled well, picking up 10 pin conversions and hitting their shots.  Although they did not earn a place at state, they did a tremendous job!  Great season to the Girls Bowling team!

Wrestling Coaches Corner

Over the weekend the Varsity had Sectionals at Barrington High School where top 4 wrestlers advanced to the State Meet this week in Champaign IL.  Mundelein had 6 Sectional Qualifiers:  120 Bryce Durlacher, 126 Benji  Albavera, 138 Ethan Thomas, 145 Kevin Hernandez, 160 Ty Murray, and Abisai Hernandez.  K. Hernandez went 2-2 as a Sophomore at 145 in a tough weight class.  Duralcher and Albavera came one match short to advance to the State Tournament and Abisai Hernandez pulled through taking 4th in Sectionals to advance to the State Tournament at 220lbs as a Sophomore.  Benji Albavera is on deck as an alternate if any changes are made in his weight class in his Sectional.  Good Luck Mustangs and enjoy the trip to CHAMPaign.

Boys Basketball Coaches Corner

BOYS BASKETBALL DEFEATS ARCHRIVAL STEVENSON IN FINAL HOME GAME.

On Tuesday, the boys basketball team defeated Stevenson 56-48 in front of a great and active crowd.  The boys started the game with a 9-0 run and never lost the lead the rest of the game.  The team clearly played their best basketball at the right time by sharing, trusting, and dividing responsibilities until victory was claimed.  It was a complete team effort.

The crowd consisted of many, but especially the girls basketball team and the basketball feeder programs as well as other interested teams.  We have seen in road games how important large, active, and excited crowds are to team success.

Boys basketball plays in the IHSA Regional semi-final game next Wednesday, Feb. 22, at 7:30 pm vs. Warren at Warren-Almond campus.  A great Mundy crowd would be appreciated.  Make it our gym that night.

Special Note: Michael Farina has set a new record for Mundelein boys basketball.   Michael had drawn 37 charges this season, previously set by Navjot Singh when he ended the season with 35.  Additionally, Michael has set a single game record collecting 6 charges vs. Lake Zurich on Feb. 7.  This breaks the previous record of 5, also set by Singh.

Boys Volleyball Coaches Corner

With only one month until Boys Volleyball Season, the countdown has begun!

Tryouts for Boys Volleyball will begin March 6 immediately after school until 6:00 pm in the Main Gym.  In order to participate in tryouts, all student-athletes must have a physical on file with the school nurse. Please be sure to register online on the Athletic Department Home page. We are looking forward to the season! Go Mustangs!

Open Gyms

All volleyball enthusiasts are invited to join us for Open Gyms which will be held in the main gym
