Illinois FAFSA Mandate:

Public Act 101-180 (effective 6/01/20) requires that, beginning with the 2020-2021 school year, public high school students must complete the FAFSA or, as eligible, the Alternative Application for Illinois Financial Aid, as a prerequisite to receiving a high school diploma. A waiver provision basically allows a parent, guardian, or the student – if 18 or emancipated – to opt out for any reason.

Making FAFSA completion part of an expectation for high school graduation can increase the number of students who are aware of the resources available to help them afford education or training after high school. This information can also help some students decide to attempt college when they might not otherwise have done so, and it may help some students limit student loan debt and take a fuller course load to more quickly complete a degree or credential.

Pre-order your 2021-2022 Yearbook

Pre-orders are now being taken for the 2021-2022 Yearbook.  Please find the item on the MHS RevTrak online payment system.  You can get to RevTrak by clicking on the shopping cart in the upper right-hand corner of the main MHS webpage. Click HERE for RevTrak.  Pre-orders with payment will be taken through the MHS Bookstore and online through September 30th.  Starting October 1st, all yearbook sales will be made through Josten's website (Josten’s is our yearbook publisher).  If you have any questions, please email KC Olson at kolson@d120.org.

Two current students, graduate published in magazine

An MHS graduate and two current students have had their works published in Teen Ink magazine. All three wrote their essays in Angie McLaughlin’s AP Language and Composition classes.

Senior Carolyn Burk’s essay is entitled Vision Without Sight; Junior Madi Minehart’s essay is Sparrow Around the World,” which was published anonymously at her request and 2020 MHS graduate Hailey Negley’s work  is “Breaking the Barriers.”

Teen Ink is a monthly tabloid-format magazine which is marketed to and written by teenagers.

“The editor-in-chief called because she was amazed that they had so many good submissions from Mundelein,” McLaughlin said.

“You always do such a good job with providing authentic audiences for your students’ writing,” Diane Covert, English department chair, said.
