Activities

Careers in Healthcare Program

Northwestern Medicine is excited to announce that we have just launched our 2020–2021 Discovery

Program Application! The Discovery Program is a local effort to expose students to careers in

healthcare.

About the NM Discovery Program

Open to high school sophomores and juniors, the NM Discovery Program’s mission is to create a

pathway for the next generation of NM leaders by drawing on the talents of our incredible team of

healthcare professionals to provide STEM career exposure. Throughout the Program, students will

be exposed to a broad range of health care careers through activities including virtual tours, guest

speakers, group discussion, and projects. In addition, the program fosters character and professional

development, cultivates life skills, provides community service and leadership experience, and offers

mentorship and networking opportunities. Meetings are held once a month, most often on Saturday

mornings. This year, the program will be offered online, unless community conditions change which

allow us to safely congregate in larger groups. As we progress, we will continue to reevaluate our

potential in-person options, assuring the safety of both the students and our providers.

Students can click HERE for access to the application and for directions on how to apply.

Athletics

Mundelein High School will offer fall contact days for out of season student athletes based on revised 2020-2021 IHSA guidelines. You can find more information as to these changes at the attached link.  IHSA Contact Day Changes 20-21. Student athletes that came to summer camps are familiar with the contact day process. We offered a variety of camps in July and early August that are similar in what will be allowed during a contact day.

In order to participate in our contact days, student-athletes must register here.Mundelein IHSA Contact Days offered through October 31st 2020.

Student-athletes and Coaches will be required to pre-screen each day when they arrive to check for their contact day.

IHSA contact days are not a requirement for participation in a sport, this is only a voluntary opportunity for our student athletes. Please also note that all sports are not able to offer contact days during this time period for various reasons including facility availability and/or coaches currently coaching another in-season sport. You can find more information on the IHSA seasons here Mundelein IHSA Sport Seasons 20-21 (IHSA).

There are no fees or cuts for contact days, we hope that those that feel comfortable participating at this time will take advantage of the opportunity to reconnect in person in the safest environment possible. We will follow the Restore Illinois All Sports Guidelines linked here Restore Illinois All Sports Policy.

Once registered, prior to the first contact day, you will receive more detailed information from the coach of the sport you have registered for. You can find anticipated contact day information listed at the Mundelein High School Athletic Website , but please know this is subject to change and your coach will provide a final schedule.

If you have any questions please reach out to the coach of the sport you are interested in participating in also linked Mundelein High School Athletic Website.

All interested student athletes will have a zoom meeting on Tuesday September 8th at 7:00 pm. A link for the meeting will be sent out on Tuesday to all interested/registered athletes.

Before her Spanish class on Monday, Aug. 31, Alessandra Ruder '23 is comforted in her bed by her lab, Dolly, and her Neapolitan Mastiff, Oden. Ruder said, "My dogs have been a big help in comforting me during the first couple weeks of school."

One good thing about E-learning is now I get to spend the whole day next to her!".

During Break Time, Ivana Rosillo '24 cuddles up to her year old puppy, Nova, for a picture on Sept. 1. Rosillo said, "Nova is pretty chill during e-learning, and we already have a routine down with her".
