Theatre Performances: Diamondbacks and Diamondbacks in the Sky
October 24 at 3:45 p.m.
October 26 & 27 at 7:30 p.m.
The youngest theatre artists at Mundelein Theatre will be performing on the Mundelein High School. Diamondbacks and Diamonds in the Sky, a seriocomic play by Jill Pertler, will be presented as the schools New Faces Production. The cast is made up of twenty eight freshman and sophomores, as well as juniors and seniors who have never appeared on the MHS main stage. The show will be performed on Wednesday, 10/24 at 3:45 pm, Friday, 10/25 at 7:30 pm and Saturday, 10/26 at 7:30 pm. Tickets are $8 for adults and $5 for students and seniors. The matinee performance on Wednesday is only $1 for MHS students. Tickets can be purchased at the box office prior to each performance.
Diamondbacks and Diamonds in the Sky starts as a simple tale of a wedding, but grows into a story about the complexities of love, with a dash of humor thrown in on the side. And, just when you think things couldn’t get any more complicated, an asteroid hits. Is it the end of the world, or just the beginning?
“It is my great pleasure to once again be directing the New Faces show,” said Jeff Harding. “Getting the chance to work with our young actors is a real blessing.” “One of the things that I am most proud of for this show is that we are tackling some serious material for the first time,” continued Harding. “I am incredibly pleased at the way the cast, along with the student Assistant Directors and Stage Manager, have taken on the challenge of doing this show.”

On Friday, October 12th, Calvin Terrell joined Black Student Union for their weekly meeting. Mr. Terrell challenged the students, as only he can, to take a more active part in shaping the course of their own lives, as well as the community here at MHS. He gave us much to think about, and much to talk about in our upcoming meetings. We are grateful for this time with him.
