Toys for Tots collection
Mundelein High School is a drop off location for the Toys 4 Tots organization. A collection box is now available next to the security desk in the entrance area. Students and staff are encouraged to drop off new items, unwrapped, to help make it a good holiday for many deserving children of all ages. The collection will take place from now until the end of the semester. All donations are greatly appreciated.

Legal experts to speak with students about careers in law
Five local legal experts will meet with Mundelein High School students who are enrolled in Criminal Law, Civil Law and Business Law classes to discuss careers in the legal field. The event will take place Thursday, Dec. 7 to include four presentations:  7:45 to 8:30 a.m.; 8:40 to 9:30 a.m.; 9:40 to 10:30 a.m.; and 11:30 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.

The following law professionals will take part in the presentations:  Lake County State’s Attorney Michael Nerheim; Honorable Judge George Strickland; Honorable Judge Christopher Stride; Assistant State’s Attorney, Special Victims Unit, Eric Kalata; and Assistant State’s Attorney, Felony Review, Don Tyer.

The event will include presentations along with time for questions/answers.

Spotlight Concert and Dessert to raise funds for vocal music department
Mundelein High School’s Vocal Music Department will host its annual Spotlight Concert and Dessert Friday, Dec. 8 beginning at 7:30 p.m. in the MHS Auditorium. The concert will feature the competition show debuts of the three MHS show choirs: Sound, Lights, and SoundFX, followed by a dessert reception featuring desserts donated by area bakeries. This is the major fundraiser for the choirs.

Ticket prices are $20 for reserved premiere seating and $15 for reserved general seating. General open seating tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for students. Children five and under are admitted free. A raffle will also be part of the program and will include such prizes as tickets to a production of the musicals, Hamilton and Dear Evan Hansen; $200 Meijer Gift Card, one night stay for two at the DoubleTree Hilton; tickets to a Wolves game; four passes to Shedd Aquarium and multiple gift cards from area businesses.

Staff Art Lessons
Art instructors Jonathan Pruc and Peter Schrenck led a group of 18 staff members through a lesson in wheel throwing at their annual workshop held Nov. 28. Participants were able to have instruction in the process and then work on projects of their own design.  Participants had a great time and produced some quality work as you can see here.










Fremont Holiday Boutique
More than 25 vendors will share their crafts and specialty items at the Fremont School District 79 Holiday Boutique at Fremont Intermediate School, 28754 N. Fremont Center Rd., Mundelein. Free parking and admission for the PTO sponsored event where shoppers will see everything from handmade soaps, scarves, jewelry, skincare products, and toys. The event will take place from 9:00am to 3:00pm Saturday, December 2.

News from the College of Lake County:
Foundation gala raises record-setting amount, helping students get ‘Off to a Grand Start on the Road to Success’.

More than 200 friends of the College of Lake County Foundation came out to support student scholarships Oct. 28 at the Drake Hotel in Chicago. The gala raised a record $280,000 – breaking the currently held record amount by over $30,000 – with proceeds from the event benefitting CLC scholarships and grants. Dec. 17: Dan Zanes: Holiday Sing-Along rings in the season
In two sensory-friendly and festive holiday shows at the James Lumber Center for the Performing Arts at the College of Lake County on Sunday, Dec. 17, Grammy Award-winning artist Dan Zanes, along with Claudia Eliaza and Pauline Jean, will create a relaxed, inclusive and sensory-friendly song-and-dance party designed to entertain families and/or children with autism or other special needs.  All are welcome. Girls Swimming & Diving
Congratulations go out to Mackenzie Strong who took home 4 medals at IHSA State Swim. Those medals were 4th place 100 Breaststroke, 6th place 200 Free, 50 Free and 100 Free. Also competing well was Maggie Franz who took home 21st place in diving. We are so proud of the both of you!
