Mundelein Jazz Invitational

This Saturday, March 12 the Mundelein High School Band Program is hosting the 55th annual Mundelein Jazz Invitational.  After a two year hiatus due to the pandemic, we are excited to welcome 43 High School and Middle School jazz groups from 27 different schools from 8am – 6pm this Saturday.  Performing groups will perform for an audience consisting of professional jazz musicians and educators who will provide written and audio feedback to the musicians.  Each performing student will also have the opportunity to work with professional musicians to hone their own musicianship.  For a full list of this year’s clinicians and adjudicators please check out the Mundelein Invitational Website

The Bob Lark Jazz Septet will be this year’s guest artist performing from 12:40pm-1:40pm.  The Bob Lark Jazz Septet is a group of distinguished, Chicago-based jazz musicians.  The Jazz Septet performs regularly at Chicago’s Jazz Showcase performing original works by members of the band as well as tunes from the “The Great American Songbook.”

Admission to this year’s festival is $10 for adults and $5 for students.  Concessions will be served all day in the MHS Cafeteria.  Here is the full schedule for the event.

Softball

Coaches Corner: Kat McCreery

Softball season is off to a great start with 54 girls in our program - many newcomers to the team and/or sport which is fantastic!  We look forward to opening our season vs. Trinity on Wednesday, March 16.  Go Mustangs!

Boys Volleyball

Coaches Corner: Dressen & Willis

The MHS Boys Volleyball program is off to a great start! We had nearly 70 athletes at tryouts on Monday, and we are looking forward to filling 4 full teams (Freshman, Frosh/Soph, JV, and Varsity). We have many returning players, but also many new faces, which we are very excited about. Tryouts will continue this week, and we should have our teams solidified by the weekend. After a strange late-spring COVID season last year, everyone is excited to return to a full regular season. And we are optimistic that all levels are going to be highly competitive. It is going to be a fun season!
