MHS Parent/Teacher Conferences Schedule

Thursday, October 22

“Gray” day (periods 2, 4, 6 and 8) for students

Conferences: 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm (10 minute sessions)


Friday, October 22

No student attendance

Conferences: 8:30 am - 11:00 am (10 minute sessions)

Conferences: 12:00 pm - 2:30 pm (10 minute sessions)


Conferences will be conducted via Zoom.   Zoom links will be provided.

Register (new users)

Enter your email address and click "Login/Create Account".

Fill in the required fields and register.

For each child, enter a student ID and birth date (mm/dd/yyyy)


Sign In

If you've previously registered, all you need to do is enter your email and password. The system will recognize you and the children you have added to your account.


Scheduling

Each colored square represents an available meeting time. The legend shows you which teacher corresponds to which color, and the times increase as you go down the page. (Note: you will not see all of the teachers at your school, just the set of teachers that your children have classes with.) Click on a square to book that time.

You will optionally have the choice of setting a time when you would like a reminder email delivered.

Click "Create Appointment".

Repeat until you have an appointment with each teacher you'd like to visit with.

At any time you can click on "printable schedule" and print the resulting web page to get a hard copy of your schedule.

If you want to make changes to your schedule, you can log in at any time with the email address and password you used to create your account.  

Click on “Your Schedule” to display and hide your appointments. There will be links to change the time, or cancel the appointment.

Does my student demonstrate specific strengths in your class?

How is my student doing in your class: Grades, attendance, missing assignments

How can my student improve his/her grade?

Is there some way that I can check my student’s progress in class?

Are there any upcoming projects or assignments my student should be working on?

Show your support with a lawn sign at your home or business designed by the MHS Puertas Club. Signs are double sided (English/Spanish) with a metal stand (or can be placed in a window).

Yearbook Photos

The yearbook staff continues to appreciate your patience as we figure out ways to bring you a 2020-2021 yearbook, which we are committed to doing. 

To be included in the yearbook, a head-and-shoulder shot needs to be taken by VIP within the time frames provided. There are no sitting fees for a yearbook head-and-shoulder shot.


COVID-19 Safety Measures

When you come to take a portrait at the school, please wear a mask (masks will be removed briefly for the photo when you are being photographed).

A health checklist and temperature check will be required to enter the building.

  • Seniors (Class of 2021): Please click on this link for specific information regarding senior portraits. 
  • Sophomores & Juniors: VIP will be at the school on the following dates:
    • October 22, 2020 – 3:00 pm- 8:00 pm in the Main Gym 
    • October 23, 2020 – 8:00 am- 6:00 pm in the Main Gym

Freshmen

You should have already had your portrait taken on the freshman Chromebook/textbook pick-up day.

If you did not get your portrait taken that day, then please follow the same steps under the “Sophomores & Juniors” section above.

Retakes for all grades

Currently, retakes are scheduled for Nov. 18 -- 2:00 pm- 8:00 pm 

While retakes will be held at MHS, the location within the school has yet to be determined.

More information will follow about this retake date.



2020-21 Yearbook Pre-ordering Information

Through School Registration: If you already pre-ordered a 2020-21 yearbook through school registration, you are good to go. Please check your registration receipt for confirmation, or contact Ms. Olson at the school bookstore (Kolson@d120.org) to verify if needed.

Through The School Until Sept. 30 at 11:59 pm: You may pre-order a 2020-21 yearbook through the school’s online payment system Revtrak until September 30 at 11:59 p.m. for $50. Orders may also be placed through the school bookstore until September 30. Please contact Ms. Olson at Kolson@d120.org.

Through Jostens Starting Oct. 1: Starting October 1, pre-orders for the 2020-21 yearbook must be placed with Jostens.com (our publishing company) for $55. You may also place an order by phone at 1-877-767-5217.

Important note: Refunds cannot be given for pre-orders; therefore, if you need to check whether or not you pre-ordered a book, contact Ms. Olson at kolson@d120.org through Sept. 30.  Starting Oct. 1, please contact the yearbook adviser, Michelle Didzbalis, at mdidzbalis@d120.org. We will be happy to tell you whether or not you are already on the pre-ordered list before you make a purchase.   

Illinois FAFSA Mandate:

Public Act 101-180 (effective 6/01/20) requires that, beginning with the 2020-2021 school year, public high school students must complete the FAFSA or, as eligible, the Alternative Application for Illinois Financial Aid, as a prerequisite to receiving a high school diploma. A waiver provision basically allows a parent, guardian, or the student – if 18 or emancipated – to opt out for any reason.

Making FAFSA completion part of an expectation for high school graduation can increase the number of students who are aware of the resources available to help them afford education or training after high school. This information can also help some students decide to attempt college when they might not otherwise have done so, and it may help some students limit student loan debt and take a fuller course load to more quickly complete a degree or credential.




SAT State Testing for Class of 2021

Mundelein High School will be giving the state required SAT to all 12th grade students on Wednesday, October 14, 2020.  The class of 2021 (12th graders) are required to take this exam to meet graduation requirements.  This exam is also beneficial for college admissions.  All 12th graders should plan to come to school on this date to complete the SAT.  Details about the exam day will be announced in early October.

Please understand that safety is a priority for this exam administration.  Students will be in classrooms of approximately 15 students, be sitting six feet apart, required to wear masks, and required to self-certify that they are symptom free prior to entering the building.

District transportation will be provided for those in need.  Please complete this THIS FORM if you need bus transportation to and from MHS on the testing date.

Students that receive College Board approved testing accommodations will receive a separate communication with details for accommodations testing.  Most students with College Board approved accommodations will test on October 14th (and October 15th if needed).  More details to follow.

If your student will not be participating on this exam day, please fill out THIS FORM by Sunday, September 13, and we will follow up with you as soon as possible.  Please know that if your student does not attend the exam on this date, they will have to take the exam in April of 2021 in order to graduate from MHS.

More information regarding testing and logistics will come out closer to the exam date. In the meantime, if you have questions about the SAT on October 14, 2020 please contact your student’s school counselor.

 


PSAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test for Class of 2022

We are currently scheduled to offer the PSAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT) on Wednesday, October 14, 2020 at Mundelein High School.  This exam is being offered free of charge.  At this time we can only offer this exam to the first one hundred (100) 11th grade students who sign up.  For those students who want to take this exam but do not get in for this administration, there will be another opportunity on Tuesday, January 26, 2021.  Once registration is complete, you will be notified which administration date you will be assigned.

Safety protocols will be implemented and explained when we get closer to the exam date.  We will be testing in large spaces (North and Main Gyms) with staggered start times unless a student has testing accommodations.

The PSAT/NMSQT is an optional, multiple-choice assessment of verbal, mathematics and writing skills. There are several benefits to taking this exam. Top performing juniors nationally may be eligible for money through National Merit, National Achievement, or National Hispanic Scholarship funds. This is a great opportunity for you to possibly obtain National Merit recognition and scholarship money. 

Because of the limited space, please only sign-up if you are 100% sure you are going to take this assessment.

National Merit program announces two MHS seniors as Commended Students

Two Mundelein High School seniors have been recognized as commended students by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC) which conducts the program. Sarah Larson and Sean Phelan will be presented with the awards by MHS Principal Anthony Kroll.

About 34,000 Commended Students throughout the nation are being recognized for their exceptional academic promise. Although they will not continue in the 2021 competition for National Merit Scholarship awards, Commended Students placed among the top 50,000 scorers of more than 1.5 million students who entered the 2021 competition by taking the 2019 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT).

“Those being named Commended Students have demonstrated outstanding potential for academic success,” said a spokesperson for NMSC. “These students represent a valuable national resource; recognizing their accomplishments, as well as the key role their schools play in their academic development, is vital to the advancement of educational excellence in our nation.”

The MHS Library Media Center has been working hard to get books to our students. We believe there is a book for every student!

Students: check out our online catalog HERE and fill out a google form with their book requests. 

We locate them, bag and tag them with the student's name and ID number. There are 8 different locations where students can go to pick up their choice.

Thursday is the day for pick up and return.

College Representative Visits

College representatives from across the nation are coming (virtually) to MHS to meet YOU! You can look at a list of upcoming visits by going on Naviance. After you log into Naviance click on the “Colleges” tab at the top of the screen and select “Colleges Home”. Scroll to the bottom of the page where it says “College Visits” and click on “Show More”, then find and click on “Register” to attend the visits of your choice. Don’t miss the opportunity to learn more about college life on multiple schools’ campuses. The more you know about the schools you want to go to, you’ll be able to stand out among the crowd of other college and university applicants.
